In my film, into the Shadow, we represent and challenge cinema conventions by creating a character that meets some of the common characteristics and properties of a majority of other films similar in genre and attributes in the storyline. We made two characters who can manipulate life and death and light and darkness, and they represent the classic stereotypical demonstrations about good and evil, the traditional superhero and supervillain. It morally and pathologically represents itself because light connects to being right, and darkness is always portrayed as evil, dangerous, or very harmful. We also added the effect that there is an extraterrestrial or supernatural effect in the storyline where the two main characters get their powers from exposure to a meteorite.

In our film, we also represent social class and race. We initially wanted to change the character's race because it is either an African American or Caucasian person. Because we wanted to build diversity, it was a contemplation between the Arabic and East Asian communities or the Hispanic and Latin communities. We also wanted to make a derivative with class by adding that the main characters are low because they are from a less advanced community. In most cases, the main characters are from middle-class society, but because we wanted our film to have the best of both worlds, we created mash-up twisting multiple actions and adventure films' properties. Some of the movies are Films such as Spiderman, captain marvel, black panther, and the avengers.

In our film into the shadows, our film connects and engages with the audience by creating shots that portray content that people have a certain familiarity with other action and adventure films; it gives them imagination and wonders while watching the movie. This film will ask themselves questions about what is happening in each shot and if they have any similarities with the characters. Because this film was made formatted from other action and adventure sequences with similar structures, it is easier for viewers in the audience to put themselves inside the cinema and make connections and create anomalies in their heads. They will develop monsters that they hope to see answers to later in the film. This film would be perfect for teenagers and young people who love action and suspense and love to have mystery and drama in their movie.

If this film were to be produced in actual reality, Marvel Studios would most likely be created. I chose this company because a majority of their movies are action and adventure films that show teenagers, young adults, and even midlife crisis fanatics who mysteriously and wondrously end up manifesting some form of abilities in the duration of their movies. Exhibition for the film would be across television networks and social media. This form of the advertisement would be more straightforward because, with industries like marvel studios, we would have plenty of resources to aid with the advancement and development of this sequel.

Originally in my eye's films were just for entertainment when I was bored or to treat my imagination to new experiences but now films are much more. filmmaking seemed easy and like it would take just a few minutes, but it was more complex than I Imagined. The complexity of films goes as far as its cinematic properties to the core, like setting, plot, colors, lighting, sound etcetera. In the beginning of this project, I could just record videos on my phone; filming was just a simple idea, turn on your camera hold it on what you are trying to record, and it was as simple as that. Because of the experience and knowledge, I gained from filming I now understand there are more complexities to filming, and even though my specific filming process was reformed it can get a lot more complex. Filming requires selection of shots lighting color sound editing and a lot more, filming is a complicated process, directors make out to be simple. The art of the movie is illustrated through the filming angles shots, etc. that's why filming must be so complex because it is the heart of the art.

While filming I learned a lot about the filming process. As I mentioned initially, I thought the filming process was simple, I thought it was just shots squeezed together into one movie. While making this film my group and I looked at several movie trailers opening scenes and even watched several videos on filmmakingSurprisingly, we thought it would be so easy just record and edit. While filming we faced the difficulty of making proper scenes, we tried filming the perfect shot and considering we did not have any sophisticated devices and technology it was quite difficult. We had to re film repeatedly sometimes because we were not showing the right emotion on our faces or because we were moving the camera and because we were not shooting the shots the way we intended to. There was one specific shot in our film I was to play a character Eduardo while recording the first problem we had was that we couldn’t remove the sound from the background in the film and after watching lots of videos on YouTube that issue was cleared then after  we faced another major issue we tried applying all our shots to a specific background like a green screen effect but because we kept shooting from the wrong angles we had to reshoot the scene all over again and because we didn't want to end up making the same stupid mistake my group ended up filming the whole sequence all over again.

While planning the film we went through ups and downs and made a lot of changes in fact while filming we realized our plot and script were not realistic for us and even if we had the equipment to do it, we do not have the knowledge. Personally, in my opinion planning the film was the worst part because it was difficult to make a simple decision on anything the moment, we decide upon something, something does not make sense and we must make a major change. We would always have to have a backup plan on anything, and our filming strategy sucked I did not agree with it at all and by the time the other members of my group saw that it sucked it was too late for them to do anything properly we were completely unprepared, and I just cannot help feeling anything but that I am going to fail this exam both the midterm and the fifty percent of the component 2 exam. To be honest, at this point my group has just wasted time on pure stupidity, we produced an unrealistic script and when 2/3 of the members in my group agreed that the script was stupid, we just could not all agree that changes were necessary to the development of this opening sequence.

after planning we filmed, we used a green screen for some shots and eventually had to change the background on all the shots and we had to remove some of the shots because of the location and the background that we filmed at and we did not have a proper green screen so in every shot that we change the background there is glitch. The crazy thing is even though we redid every single shot over and over again no matter what they are not audience material. I am stuck in my head inflicted with what to do next, I keep asking myself if people will see the glitch in the shot or not. Editing was also difficult because we keep collapsing in the same problems and we were stressing and wondering what did we do wrong and what can we do to change, change angles color lighting sound effects?

While filming we had to incorporate many other cinematic properties and elements of mise en scene that are necessary to create meaning that the audience and viewers can empathize withWe took advantage of the angles and filming strategies so we could incorporate the necessary materials offered on the editing software. We had to take midway shots and low angle shots so that the actual footage would not skip over the background we applied using green screen. overall, I feel I am more efficient at filmmaking because I understand and can corporate and use the necessary properties of filmmaking into making a great film.

  1. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

  • [What equipment did you use in the project?] - 1 paragraph

Since no one else in the community had access to more sophisticated technology, I used a phone to make my film. Since it had a variety of camera models, the phone performed exceptionally well. We should have used something else, but shooting had to be done quickly, so we had to improvise.

  • [What did you learn about using technology?] - 1 paragraph

We learned that it is something that will always develop in this world and is the most helpful thing. Technology is the most important thing to us that this day age, and it would have been much more difficult for us to record all we had to film if we did not have the right technology.

  • [Show “before and after” examples] - at least 2

  •

  •

  •

  •

  •

  •

  • At first you can see the shots are bland but eventually we use long shots to capture the entire image in the frame them we dolly in with the action.

  •

  •  [Use picture and video evidence] - use from entire process

  •

  • [Be specific about settings used, etc.] - for each shot

Each shot were shot in a contemporary context, but from different angles, and some of the shots were green screen edited and manipulated to achieve the desired effect.
